Karaye CPC Reviews Progress, Plan new strategies

By Sani Garba Mohammed

The Child Protection Committee (CPC) in Karaye Local Government Area has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of vulnerable children following a review meeting held on Sunday at the committee’s office.

The meeting brought together members of the committee to reflect on achievements, assess challenges, and design new strategies to strengthen child protection across the community.

The committee highlighted progress made in recent months, including successful community sensitization campaigns on child rights and protection, closer collaboration with schools, religious leaders, and local authorities, and the establishment of referral pathways to report and address cases of abuse. Parents and guardians have also been engaged in awareness programs stressing the importance of education, health, and proper care for children.

Despite these gains, the CPC noted persistent hurdles. Limited financial resources, inadequate awareness in some rural communities, cultural practices that conflict with child protection principles, and limited cooperation from certain stakeholders remain obstacles to progress.

To overcome these challenges, the committee resolved to intensify community outreach, strengthen partnerships with government agencies, civil society, and security agencies, and organize capacity-building workshops for members and stakeholders. Efforts will also focus on mobilizing more funding and developing a comprehensive roadmap to ensure coordinated child protection initiatives.

At the close of the meeting, members pledged to remain steadfast in promoting the rights and well-being of children. They emphasized the importance of collective action and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to create a safer and more supportive environment for children in Karaye Local Government Area.
